Letter B and 17

Our Letter this week is 

 and our number is 17

We will be learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and use noodles to re create it. 

We will be making a boat using the lower case b and we will be blowing bubbles through a straw.

Our Bible Verse is: But the fruit of the spirit is love,joy,peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness and self control.

Galatians: 5.22-23

We will be making a butterfly hatching from its chrysalis using toilet paper rolls and craft sticks and construction paper. 

We will be playing Letter Bingo and Don't Spill the Beans and using bean bags with lower and upper case B's on them along with boxes and the children will have to throw the correct bean bag in the correct box.

We will be practicing writing our Bb's and counting and writing the number 17.

Our Valentines Day party is Thursday Morning, please bring in your decorated box and valentines day cards for each child. Have your child write his or her name on the card only. They will be putting the cards in his or her classmates boxes.

In your child's HFYH binder is a dry erase marker and his or her full name,  Please have them practice writing their names on the outside of the protective cover, and bring it to school so that Katie and or myself can look at it, and give them a sticker. This is homework every night.

Our letter this week is P and our number is 16

Katie and I would like to Congratulate the Starnes family on the birth of their new son Konnor , he joins brother Keegan and sister Keirra . Keegan will be a great big brother!!

We will be making a Pizza out of a paper plate by painting it red and using yellow yarn as cheese and brown pepperoni ( using brown construction paper ) 

We will also be finger painting with purple paint as well as playing stack the cups to the number 16.

We will  be walking like penguins and learning the pop corn song and pretending to pop like popcorn.

We will be making P is for Penguin 

We will be doing a cooking activity with Mrs. Lynn and Mrs. Nichole's class on Thursday morning.

We will be making Piggies in a blanket..... we will be preparing pancakes and sausages wrapped in them.

Our star student this week is: Delaney,   Please bring enough snacks for 16 children and also a show and tell 

Please remember tuition is due at this time and all permission slips and monies are due on Tuesday for our CMOE field trip on Wednesday . Parents and siblings are asked to meet us there and pay at the door.

We will also be sending home a note on Tuesday about our upcoming Valentines day card boxes we want you and your child to make together.  We will be having a Valentines Day Party in our classroom on Feb 13.

  

Letter Y and the number 15

This week we will be learning about the letter 

and the sound it makes.

We will be making a yak and gluing on yellow yarn on to y's.

We will be sending home a number 15 paper to do for homework.        

Please return when finished. 

Our Bible Verse is:  You oh Lord, keep my lamp burning:  My god turns my darkness into light. Psalm 18:28.

We will be doing dot to dot Y's on the dry erase boards and writing the number 15.

We will be doing lacing cards with yarn and using our play dough and pressing them onto Y's.

We will be using yogurt in zip lock bags and tracing Y's in the yogurt.

We will be burying yellow things into the sand table and the children will be digging for them.

We will also be making one of our snacks this week.

We will be making Yo Yo's using string licorice and Oreo cookies.

Our Star Student this week is Carson, please bring enough snacks for 16 students.

This week is bought to you by the letter L and the number 14

This week we will be learning about the letter L and the sound that it makes and learning the difference from our left and our right.
We will be making lollipops, and lady bugs  by painting a paper plate red and using out thumbs for the spots.         

We will be playing pack your lunch game.  We will have nutritious foods and junk foods and on the backs of the food is a smile face or frown face, and the kids have to pick the correct foods to put in the lunch box.
We will also be playing the line game... we will be using a ribbon and the children have to walk on top of it, we will have big and small lines, they will be also drawing lines.
We will be doing our first dot to dot... Find Farmer Brown and color 14 horses.

We will be doing an estimation station... the children will each get a chance to  estimate how many lollipops are in our glass jar.  The first child who guesses correctly or closest will win the lollipops, and he or she will then share the lollipops with the class.

We will be tasting lemons and limes  and Katie and I are sure we will have some great pictures from this activity.

Our Bible Verse is: Love the Lord, your god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.

We will be also sorting animal crackers and only eating the lions.

We will be practicing pouring liquid ( water with food coloring in it) from one container to another.

Our star Student this week is Chloe:   please bring enough snacks for 16 students and please bring in something special to share with the class.

Our class wish list: Baby Wipes and Hand Sanitizer and paper towels.

A New Year 2014

Hello, Everyone

Katie and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Celebration of Jesus's Birthday as well as a fun filled New Years.

Just some quick reminders:

1.  Please ignore the star student list.... as Katie and I will be making a new one because over the holiday break, we found out we are getting two new students.
2.  We are sad to see Cooper leave and move to Texas, but it is a great opportunity for Greg and Katie.
     We will miss you COOP!!!!
3.  Please look inside your child's back pack and change out the shorts and short sleeve tops and replace with warmer clothes with temperatures falling and blustery winds, Katie and I would feel awful sending them out to you dressed in shorts if it is so very cold outside.

4.  MOPS ( mothers of pre- schoolers ) starts Jan 8 at the main campus, so come one come all and have some coffee and meet other pre -school moms and make some crafts and share ideas and laughter.. You can join via the web: MOPS@Blue GrassUMC.com

review week

This week we will be reviewing the letters I ,T and E
Numbers 10, 11 and 12
We will be finishing up our Christmas presents and wrapping them and making Christmas Cards
We will be making a thumbprint cross
We will be using white paint and glue to make snowmen and black paper for mouth and buttons and orange for a carrot nose.

We will also finish making our Rainbow Poem to finish our color Unit.
We will be using craft sticks and painting them green and turning them into Christmas trees.
We will be learning the meaning about why the candy cane is red and white.
This week our star student is Will and next week is Zander.

Next week is our Christmas Program on Thursday and it is also half day for all students and staff.
Next week on Tuesday and Wednesday we will be watching the Polar Express and wearing our comfy PJ's

Letter E and Trapezoid,

Katie and I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

It is hard to believe that it is December already and Christmas will be here before we know it.
We will be practicing all our songs for the Christmas Program and making special gifts for our parents.

Our letter is E , we will be making elves and Christmas wreaths, and Elmer the Elephant, we will be making fried eggs in a frying pan.  We will also be painting with Eggs ( plastic eggs filled with paint and we will be tossing them onto our big paper)

We will be making the Rainbow Poem
We will be counting to 12 and playing the Dozen Pattern Game.
